Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Lunar New Year is nearly here — a joyful time of colour, food, and family traditions. 2026 is the Year of the Horse, and we have exciting celebrations planned at BHS.
On Monday, 9 February 2026, at 1:15 p.m., we will gather in the school hall for our Lunar New Year assembly. Apologies for the previous confusion with dates.
The assembly will include performances by students, and will conclude with an exciting lion dance, kindly sponsored by the BHS PTA. Due to limited space in the hall, this event is for students only; however, we will livestream the assembly and lion dance on YouTube for families to watch at home. Please click HERE to access the livestream. Short highlights will also be shared on our social channels.
On this day, all students are encouraged to wear traditional Chinese clothing or bright, festive attire; performers should wear their performance outfits as needed.
On Friday, 13 February 2026, all students are invited to wear traditional Chinese clothing or bright, festive attire and join mixed‑age groups for hands-on cultural activities celebrating Lunar New Year customs.
We look forward to celebrating with your children — Kung Hei Fat Choi! Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous Year of the Horse.
Warm regards,
The Mandarin Department
