Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Lunar New Year is one of the most important festivals in Hong Kong, featuring special rituals, food, and culture. 2025 is the Year of the Snake.
At BHS, we have planned various activities and celebrations to recognise this important time of year for many of our students and families.
On Thursday, 23rd January 2025, everyone in school is asked to come dressed in traditional Chinese clothes or brightly coloured clothing.
In the morning, students will participate in Chinese Cultural Activities in mixed-age groups, relating to the customs and traditions of the Chinese New Year and Chinese culture.
In the afternoon, starting at 1:20 PM, groups of students from Y3 to Y6 will perform in the Chinese New Year Assembly for the entire school in the playground. At the end of the CNY assembly, there will also be an exciting lion dance sponsored by the BHS PTA. Unfortunately, due to limited space in the playground, this assembly is open to students only. However, both the assembly and the lion dance will be live-streamed so families can enjoy watching them in the comfort of their own homes.
This year, we’ll be live streaming via YouTube which can be accessed HERE. As this is the first time using this platform, please be patient if any technical issues occur. Short videos will also be uploaded onto our social media channels during the holiday.
May we take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year of the Snake – Kung Hei Fat Choi!
Kind regards,
The Mandarin Department
