Hi everyone,
As a place for many things technology related I thought it appropriate and wanted to share with you a moment of reflection for the death today of Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple.
Many of you will be aware of the recent achievements of apple with devices such as iphones and ipads but I wanted to explain a little further about why Steve Jobs was so important for the technological world we live in today.
In 1976 he helped develop the very first personal home computer 'The Apple I'. He set up Apple computer in his parents garage where they built their first 200 computers. They brought the first graphical interfaces to computers, the mouse and the whole way modern operating systems work today. Over the next 30 years this company grew to be, as it is today, the largest company in the world.
While working for another company he founded, called NeXT computers, they developed the machines that became the very first World Wide Web servers (www). This was the very beginning of the internet we know today.
During all of this, Steve Jobs also purchased a small computer graphics team in 1986. He grew that company and signed deals with Disney. That company is the most succesful animation company in the world, Pixar.
The world we live in today would not be the way it is were it not for Steve Jobs. Computers, mobile phones, the internet and entertainment would all be very different without him.
"Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do." - Steve Jobs
